Shows to Please the Family at the San Diego Zoo
Because there's so much to see at the San Diego Zoo, it can be challenging to squeeze in a show. After all, you have to be at the right place at the right time, and that's hard when you're walking and riding a bus through 100 acres of animals with kids in tow!
But if you and your children really enjoy shows, the planning is worth it! Here are your choices:
"Sea Lion Show - It Began with a Roar" If you like sea lions, this is the show for you! The humorous California sea lions are the undisputed stars. They are joined by other animals such as the humongous walrus. The set is very cute and it's a spacious amphitheater. But there's no shade, so beware of baking in the sun on hot days.
Show schedule: Daily at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Wegeforth Bowl, with additional shows during the summer and school holidays.
"The Wild Ones - Legends & Lore" Get up close and personal with predators and prey from around the world. Your kids will particularly enjoy the birds as they fly to their trainers from far above the amphitheater. You may even get a chance to participate with the spectacular birds!
Show schedule: Daily at Noon and 2 p.m. at Hunte Amphitheater, with additional shows during the summer and school holidays.
"Dr. Zoolittle Show" Kids will enjoy this visit from Dr. Zoolittle, the physician of fun. This is an interactive and hilarious show. The location in the Children's Zoo makes it a convenient stop.
Show schedule: Daily during summer, weekends, and school holidays. Specific times vary, so check the zoo show schedule when you arrive.
